The Glenn Robertson Jazz Band

The Glenn Robertson Jazz Band  is a Proudly South African Jazz collective fronted by the vibrant Jazz crooner who has enterained audiences in Cape Town and across South Africa and beyond for over 3 decades.  Offering a delightful mix of Jazz-infused music which includes original Jazz as well as standads, Latin, Gospel, and some adult contemporary, the band appeals to a diverse audience starting from the Jazz conoisseur (the likes of Jonathan Butler and Rashid Lombard are regular guests at their Friday night showcases), to the man on the street.

Glenn Robertson was a founder member of the band Airborne and was lead vocalist for the Tony Schilder Trio, for a season, at the Sherwood or better known as Club Montreal in Manenberg. His musical influences come largely from the music of Al Jarreau, Nat King Cole, Jimmy Messina and his musical leaning is definitely toward Latin Jazz. 

The band can be scaled depending on event requirements - anything from a 3-piece to a 10-piece outfit is possible, with the quintet (5-piece) being the most popular performance option.  The core of the band consists of Glenn on vocals and percussion, with some of Cape Town's top musicians including Tony Drake on piano, Andre Donovan Henry on Bass, John Baatjes on drums and Timothy Ehrenreich on guitar. Regular guests artists include trumpeter Ian Smith, flutist Carina Bruwer, Donveno Prins on saxophone, and many more acclaimed Cape Town Jazz musicians.
