Kass NaidooLocation: Based in Johannesburg
Kass Naidoo is an award-winning sports journalist who defied the odds by achieving her childhood dream of becoming South Africa’s first female cricket commentator at the age of 27.
Having made her television presenting debut during the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa and after five seasons of anchoring and commentating for SABC Sport, Kass took a break from broadcasting in September 2007, to gain credibility in cricket.
Kass joined Cricket South Africa (CSA) in March 2008 as Commercial and Corporate Relations manager. Her role, to shape and promote the brands of CSA and the Proteas, saw Kass work across Brand, Marketing, Events, Communications and Social Media, as she and her team drove CSA’s vision of making cricket a truly national sport of winners.
In March 2012, and after four incredible years, Kass resigned from CSA to pursue new challenges.
Kass is passionate about radio, having hosted the popular week daily sports show, Gameplan, on SAFM for three years, until she quit in July 2006 to throw her weight behind women in sport.
Kass plans to spend time focusing on gsport… for Girls!, an online initiative she launched in August 2006, to raise the profile of SA women in sport, and showcase vibrant South African women, who serve as role models.
The gsport Awards take place every year in winter where outstanding individuals are lauded for their contribution to women’s sport.
Kass is a keen MC and speaker having contributed to events for leading South African brands like South African Breweries (SAB), MTN, SPAR, Standard Bank, FNB and ABSA.
In September 2007, Kass co-hosted the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards - the first South African to be given this honour, alongside top ESPN-Star cricket anchor, Harsha Bhogle.
