Hizi-Hizi Belly Dance was formed as a professional performing studio in 2010 by internationally renowned bellydancer Tarryn Rego, although the members have been performing together for several years. The words “Hizzi Hizzi means to “Shimmy Shimmy” in Arabic, which is one of the core movements in Belly Dancing.
Specialising in Belly Dancing / Oriental Dance / Middle-Eastern dance / Arabic Dance / Raqs Sharqi in Johannesburg / Pretoria area as well as we are able to travel anywhere around South Africa, as well as Internationally around the World.
Hizi-Hizi can tailor-make the performance for any event! Providing entertaining performances incorporating Exciting Fire dancing (fire sticks, fire fans, fire-sword), Mysterious Candelabra or balancing candle tray, Beautiful Silks (veils, fans, wings), enchanting sword dancing, mesmerizing Isis Wings or LED wings! Traditional, modern, folkloric, fusions and more, the act would generally consist of a 20-25min set starting with opening candles, exciting fire, a drum solo showcasing belly dance shimmies, isolations, pops and flutters, then a prop appropriate for the space, audience or theme, and to finalise the set and get the vibe going the show is ended with Audience participation.
For team building or kitchen teas, a mini belly dance workshop can be incorporated. The show can incorporate from 1 to 6 Belly Dancers, depending on show requirements, space & Budget. The show can be well co-ordinated with Fire dancer, a Tabla (darbouka) drummer, or Greek Dancers
The group is available for Corporate events and functions, Birthday Parties, Restaurants, Weddings, Bah-Misfars, Product / Company Launches, Bachelorettes, Kitchen-Teas, Team-Buildings, Ladies/Womans Day events, Fundraisers, Conferences, Workshops, Cultural Days, Golf Days, Awards Ceremonies, Themed Parties, Hen Parties, New Year’s Eve, Children’s Parties, Matric Farewells, etc.

Career Highlights
- Represented South Africa in 2013 at the “Montenegro Dance Festival” April 2013. They won the Belly Dance Category, contributing to the South African team to be the overall Champions of The Montenegro Dance Festival 2013! During the trip the team also performed on Montenegro National TV live talk show representing the Dance Festival.
- SA’s got Talent and made it to the TOP 21 Semi-Finals for 2015 to perform live on eTV
- Tarryn and Julia also featured as cast members on: “BellyDance Evolution's” world tour of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for their Johannesburg Show in 2015.
- Tarryn, Julia & Pavia all teach Belly Dance classes in the Bedfordview area.

Tarryn Rego had first started dancing at the age of 4, Dance forms including Tap, Modern, Latin, Freestyle, Flamenco and Hip hop. Tarryn started belly dancing at the age of 11 with Phyllis Riebeck of Belly Dancing Academy of South Africa to add belly dancing to the list of dancing forms she was already doing. Since then she hasn’t slowed down. She had her 1st belly dance performance on TV in the mid-1990s on Tony Sanderson’s Chuckle and Chat Show at the age of 13. A year later the group with which she then danced with, Jewels of the Nile, entered the South African Championships for the Performing Arts and won first place in 2000.
Tarryn has been a professional Belly dancer since 1999, becoming internationally renowned, having the pleasure of performing for various people of different races, cultures, ages, financial well-being’s, and social hierarchies and performing for various high profile clients including embassies, diplomats, Saudi royalty, and top corporate companies.
Tarryn started teaching at Diana Moore Dance world in 2005 and continued for 11 years before breaking on her own. She was crowned first princess in the "Drum Solo Queen" Competition, in the Rhythms of Raq Festival, 2014. Tarryn in a qualified DanceCor Associate 1 level Tap dance teacher, and currently training to Qualify in Modern Dance.
The group currently consists of Tarryn, Julia, Pavia, Cassidy, Andrea, and Melissa who all have been training with Tarryn for several years, and each with their complete list of achievements & experience.
