Winelands String Quartet

Founded by husband and wife team, Alan and Marianne McLean, the Winelands String Quartet, all classically trained and highly experienced professionals, have enjoyed a musical camaraderie for many years. Fellow players include Eddie McLean and Renette Swart (both prominent members of the Cape Philharmonic orchestra), Sandra Orchard, Phil Ewans and Colleen Oxtoby. They approach their craft with passion, enthusiasm and integrity.

The Winelands String Quartet has played for Weddings, Funerals, Private Functions, Birthday Parties, Exhibitions, Book Launches, Conferences, Gala dinners, High Teas, Literary Dinners and Soirées. The quartet is regularly booked by Akorn Destination Management to entertain foreign tourists during wine tasting and picnic lunches in the Franschhoek Winelands. In addition to the Winelands, they are available throughout the greater Cape Town area and surrounds including the Breede River Valley and the West Coast.

Their extensive repertoire – currently comprising melodies ranging from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic through Jazz, Folk, Traditional, Ragtime, Show-Tunes, Anthems / Religious / Movies and Pop – continues to grow in response to special requests, which they make every effort to accommodate.
